Hi All,
If anyone wants to do some pool training, learn some freediving techniques we(3 of us at the moment) have a regular training session going most of the time. Usually just once a week at the civic pool. Have good safety practises and an experienced freediver to learn from.  I am actually looking for someone else to train with more Northside, ie Belconnen/Kaleen area. Beginners welcome.
I currently also train at the Kaleen pool which is probably the best pool I have ever used for freediving. It's a 25m pool with an even 1.5m bottom the whole way and a nice big black strip to follow. It's a very warm pool, usually 3 to 4 degrees more then most pools, can usually train without a suit for up to 2 hours. I can usually get a whole lane to myself at least half the time.

Probably not too many canberra freedivers reading this but thought I would post anyway. It's looking a little lonely on this thread Grin

Cheers,
Wal

Hi all,

I have just moved to Canberra for three years from Poland. In my native country I had been training Freediving for about 6 months and I want to continue training here. As fare as now I swim on Canberra Olympic Pool but can't freedive as I do not have secure partner therefore I am looking for mates. I would be glad if you can give me information about your meetings (swimming pool & dates).

Thanks

Hi Kali, just sent you an email.
In general will be training at the Canberra Olympic pool in civic, and the CISAAC pool in belconnen. Sadly the Kaleen pool shut down late last year  Cry

Hey Wal,
That sucks about the kaleen pool, that was perfect. Have they shut down permanantly?. Hey should have a session at Queanbeyan indoor pool some time. I reckon its nearly as good as Kaleen temp wise, only problem is it gets pretty packed. Might be good for over winter.

Cheers

Hi All,

I'm keen to learn from anyone who has a clue, as I'm doing a lot of guessing about what I'm doing both wet and dry. I'm in the inner north so civic or belco suits me. and where do people tend to get their monofins from?

Hi Guy,
I haven't done much training lately, just trying to get back to it, mostly go to the CISAAC belconnen pool. If you want to learn I teach courses, there's also some good stuff on the forums here about statics to get you started. I get my monofins where most people do, Estonia or Ukraine  Grin
There was someone in Sydney that imported some leaderfins mono's, don't know if that's still happening, quite a few guys that train there so may be some second hand mono's around. I do have a couple spare if you want to try one out. There is a finswimming club in Tuggeranong (Viking's), haven't been there in a while but think it's still going.
Can get me on email :- walter_steyn - (at) - yahoo.com.au

Cheers,
Wal
